Robin Collins is a Canadian peace and disarmament advocate who has been active in civil society organizations since the early 1990s. He serves on the Board of World Federalist Movement – Canada, where he has focused on UN peacekeeping, a proposed UN Emergency Peace Service (UNEPS), the Responsibility to Protect, and UN reform. He is Secretary of the Canadian Pugwash Group and a Board Member of the Rideau Institute, an Ottawa-based research organization on foreign and defence policy. From the mid-1990s to the early 2000s he was a steering committee member and then board Chair of Mines Action Canada, the country’s anti-personnel landmine ban coalition, and he was lead author of its position paper on cluster bombs. Collins is a past Chair of the Group of 78 working group on peace and security and co-led (with Peggy Mason) the 2016 paper Shift to Common Security and Sustainable Peace, a contribution to Canada’s defence policy review. He sits on the steering committee of the Canadian Network to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (CNANW), a coalition of civil society groups working on nuclear abolition and non-proliferation, where he has served as Co-Chair. He has published on nuclear disarmament, fissile material, peacekeeping, and the Libya intervention, including articles in the journal Mondial, and is a regular book reviewer for The Canadian Field-Naturalist. He is retired after more than 40 years working in technology companies.
