Bob Flax, Ph.D. is a psychologist, organization development consultant, educator, and world federalist advocate. He served as Executive Director of Citizens for Global Solutions (CGS) from 2019 to 2023 before transitioning to the Executive Board of the World Federalist Movement-Institute for Global Policy.
Flax holds a B.A. in psychology and philosophy from New York University (1977), an M.A. in psychology from Long Island University (1980), a Ph.D. in psychology from Saybrook Institute (1992), and an M.A. in organization development from Sonoma State University (2007). He later earned a Certificate in Global Affairs from New York University (2015) and a Diploma in Global Leadership from the UN University for Peace in Costa Rica (2020).
He began his career as a psychotherapist in the late 1970s and spent sixteen years with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, serving as the first full-time psychologist working with inmates on San Quentin State Prison’s death row and managing over 40 inmate rehabilitation programs. He is an Adjunct Full Professor at Saybrook University, where he has taught in their Clinical Psychology, Organizational Systems Inquiry, Research, and Transformative Social Change programs. He also helped develop the curriculum and co-directed the Office of Research.
Within the world federalist movement, Flax has served on the boards of three organizations: the Democratic World Federalists (San Francisco), where he is a past president; Citizens for Global Solutions (Washington, D.C.); and the World Federalist Movement-Institute for Global Policy (New York City, Washington, D.C., & The Hague, Netherlands). His expertise spans conflict resolution, global governance, organizational development, psychology, restorative justice, and world federation.
