Byron Belitsos is an author, editor, journalist, and book publisher who has been active in the world federalist movement for decades. He earned a B.A. (Honors) in European intellectual history from the University of Chicago in 1977. After a career as a business journalist and technology consultant in Silicon Valley, he founded Origin Press in San Rafael, California, in 1996, where he serves as publisher and has overseen more than 40 titles, including numerous award-winning books. His involvement with the world democracy movement began in the mid 1980s when he joined the World Federalist Association, a predecessor of Citizens for Global Solutions, and he later became a board member of one of its successor organizations, the Democratic World Federalists. In 1989 he wrote, directed, and produced the documentary film Toward a Governed World. He was the principal author, with Jerry Tetalman, of One World Democracy: A Progressive Vision for Enforceable Global Law (Origin Press, 2005), which argues for democratic global governance and the rule of law at the world level through a federation of nations. For Mondial he wrote War Crimes Are a Feature of the War System (June 2022), connecting atrocities such as those in the Ukraine conflict to the structural failures of the international security system that world federalists call the war system. At the time of that article he was managing editor of World Citizen, the monthly publication of Citizens for Global Solutions.
