Camila López Badra is an Argentine advocate for global democracy, international justice, and regional integration. She was born in Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina. She coordinates the campaign for the creation of a Latin American and Caribbean Criminal Court against Transnational Organized Crime, known by its Spanish acronym COPLA, an initiative launched in 2013 by the Argentine NGO Democracia Global (Movement for the South American Union and the World Parliament), the World Federalist Movement member organization in Argentina. The COPLA proposal, drawn from the Palermo Convention, seeks to establish a regional court to prosecute leaders of transnational criminal organizations and to confiscate their assets, while strengthening cooperation and integration across Latin America and the Caribbean.
At Democracia Global she has held a senior leadership role, described on the organization’s materials as executive director, working alongside founder Fernando Iglesias to advance the campaign before parliaments, governments, and international forums. She has presented COPLA at events including the International Association of Prosecutors meeting in Buenos Aires and gatherings tied to the International Criminal Court Assembly of States Parties in The Hague. She has also served as International Director of the Model United Nations Parliamentary Assembly and as a parliamentary advisor in Argentina’s Chamber of Deputies.
López Badra is affiliated with the World Federalist Movement / Institute for Global Policy (WFM/IGP), where she is listed as an Operations Officer for Argentina. Her work centers on building democratic institutions at the regional and global levels and on closing the gap between transnational crime and the reach of national legal systems.
