Chuck Woolery

Chuck P. Woolery is a longtime global affairs and public health advocate whose career centered on connecting human security, global governance, and the work of the United Nations. A former high school biology teacher, he went on to serve as Issues Director of the World Federalist Association, the predecessor organization that merged into Citizens for Global Solutions in 2003, where he worked on Capitol Hill advocating UN reform and stronger international institutions. He also served as Issues and Advocacy Director of the Global Health Council, Director of the Alliance for Child Survival, and Media Director of RESULTS International. His peers elected him to the Action Board of the American Public Health Association, which represents roughly 120,000 US health professionals, and as Chair of the United Nations Association Council of Organizations, a coalition of more than 110 US-based NGOs. He has written on the links between hunger, poverty, global health, disarmament, and national security, arguing that funding humanitarian and development goals is itself a security imperative. More recently he has focused on environmental and peace work at the community level, serving on the City of Rockville (Maryland) Human Rights Commission and Environmental Commission, co-leading volunteer invasive-species removal crews, and serving on Rotary District 7620 peace and environmental committees. He has also served as a Climate Restoration Ambassador with the Climate Restoration Alliance.
