Earl James

Earl James is the President and CEO of Global Voice, where he builds coalitions in support of United Nations reform, advancing the recommendations of the Commission on Global Security, Justice and Governance (co-chaired by former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Ibrahim Gambari). Through Global Voice he convened a series of Global Town Halls on UN renewal and global governance reform, the subject of his June 2019 Mondial article. He has more than 40 years of experience in non-profit management, coalition-building, and political activism for social change across global peace and security, environmental protection, public health, and historic preservation. James served Citizens for Global Solutions (the US publisher of Mondial) as Executive Director, Development Director, and Board Chair. His earlier leadership roles include Executive Director of the Rachel Carson Homestead Association and of the Woodrow Wilson House Museum, Director of Programs and Development at the New Mexico Environmental Law Center, Director of Preservation Programs at the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation (where he helped create the Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area), and Director of Development at SITE Santa Fe. He also serves on the board of The Common Home of Humanity, a global environmental governance initiative. He was an international election observer in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1997 and served in the US Army from 1966 to 1967. An award-winning novelist and screenwriter, he holds a Master of Arts in Teaching (Museum Education) from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and History from the University of Arkansas.
