Marjolijn Snippe is an international law specialist and a long-standing advocate for United Nations reform and democratic global governance. She holds a master’s degree in international law from the University of Amsterdam. Snippe is a founding member of the Centre for United Nations Constitutional Research (CUNCR), an organization devoted to the study of UN Charter reform, including Security Council reform and the legality and potential of an Article 109(3) Charter review conference. For several years she served as research assistant to Erskine Childers, the Irish UN official and writer known for his work on reforming and renewing the United Nations. She co-edited the volume “Erskine Barton Childers: For a Democratic United Nations and the Rule of Law,” published by the Dag Hammarskjold Foundation in 2011. Within the world federalist movement, Snippe is a board member of the World Federalist Movement in the Netherlands (WFBN) and co-editor of its quarterly publication “Een Wereld” (One World), and she has been identified as a member of the World Federalist Movement Executive Committee. Her contribution to Mondial, “Neglected aspects of the United Nations Charter” (December 2018), reflects her central professional focus on the constitutional dimensions of the UN Charter and on the institutional reforms needed to strengthen the rule of law at the global level.
