Sovaida Ma’ani Ewing is an international lawyer, author, and the founding director of the Center for Peace and Global Governance (CPGG), a virtual think tank and online forum that pools and proposes principled solutions to pressing global problems including climate change, the equitable distribution of natural resources, nuclear proliferation, arms control, genocide, terrorism, and the absence of effective institutions for global governance. She holds an LLM in International Law and European Union Law from Cambridge University, is a barrister-at-law of England and Wales, and is an attorney-at-law in the United States. Over an eighteen-year legal career spanning four continents, she worked in private practice with law firms in Washington, DC (including her own), taught as an adjunct professor of law, and served as an Attorney-Advisor in the Office of the Legal Adviser at the US State Department. Her work argues that humanity’s interconnectedness requires building collective decision-making institutions capable of evolving into a world federation of nation-states. She is the author of several books on peace and global governance, among them Collective Security Within Reach (2008), Building a World Federation: The Key to Resolving Our Global Crises (2015), Bridge to Global Governance: Tackling Climate Change, Energy Distribution, and Nuclear Proliferation (2018), and The Alchemy of Peace: Six Essential Shifts in Mindsets and Habits to Achieve World Peace (2021). She produces the videocast Reimagining Our World and speaks regularly on collective security, international law, and global governance. She is also a faculty member at the Wilmette Institute.
